How do I book a tour?
Choose a tour, pick your dates and number of travellers, and send the request (or write on WhatsApp). We confirm availability within 24 hours and send a secure link for a 30% deposit. The balance is paid on departure day.
Do I pay anything to enquire?
No. You pay a deposit only once you approve the itinerary and we have confirmed availability. Until then it is a conversation.
How can I pay?
Deposit by card link or bank transfer. Balance in cash (EUR or MAD) or by card on the day. We never store card numbers.
What is your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 7 days before departure with a full deposit refund. Between 7 days and 48 hours, the deposit becomes credit for a later date. Under 48 hours it is not refunded. Full terms on the booking terms page.
Can I change dates or the number of travellers?
Yes, up to 72 hours before, subject to availability. The price adjusts to the new group size.
Are your prices per person or per group?
Per person. Private “from” prices are based on 2 travellers; the pricing table on each tour shows 1, 2, 3 and 4 or more.
Is there a minimum number of travellers?
Private tours: 1. Shared tours: 2. If a shared departure does not reach 2, we offer it as private at a supplement or refund you, at least 7 days before.
Shared, private or elite
What is the difference between Shared, Private and Elite?
Shared: fixed dates, small group (18 seats per minibus, never more per vehicle), best value. Private: your own driver and vehicle, flexible stops, any group size. Elite: hand-picked luxury stays, a private guide throughout, and an itinerary designed around you.
Are private tours really private?
Yes. The vehicle, the driver and the itinerary are for your group only. At the camp you share the site with other guests, but your tent, your table and your camel guide are yours.
Can I customise a private tour?
Yes. Stops, timing, an extra night, a different riad: tell us before departure and we adjust. On the day, your driver can also adapt within reason.
Who will my driver be?
A licensed Moroccan driver-guide who works with us, speaks English or French, and knows the route. We assign drivers a few days before departure and send you the name and number.
The desert
Merzouga or Zagora?
Merzouga has the tall dunes and needs three days. Zagora has small dunes and fits in two. If you have three days, Merzouga; if you have two, Zagora; for one evening, Agafay.
Does the tent have a private bathroom?
On our private and Elite tours, yes: luxury camps with en-suite bathrooms and hot showers. Shared tours use standard camps with shared bathrooms.
Is it cold at night?
From November to March, yes, often near 5°C. Tents have thick blankets; bring a real jacket. Summer nights are mild.
Is the camel ride mandatory?
No. Anyone can go to the camp by 4×4 instead; tell us before departure. The ride is about one hour each way.
Is there electricity and Wi-Fi at the camp?
Electricity in the evening for lights and charging; bring a power bank. Phone signal is weak and there is no Wi-Fi at the camp. Riads before and after have Wi-Fi.
What do we eat?
Dinner at the camp is a Moroccan meal (soup, salads, tagine or couscous, fruit) with mint tea. Breakfast is bread, eggs, jam, fruit and coffee. Vegetarian and gluten-free on request when booking.
Can I bring my suitcase?
Your luggage stays locked in the vehicle; you take a small bag to the camp. Luxury camps can bring suitcases by 4×4 on request.
On the road
How much driving is there?
A 3-day Merzouga tour is about 6, 5 and 9 hours of driving; day three is the long one. We stop every one to two hours, and private tours stop wherever you like.
Where do you pick me up?
At your riad or hotel in Marrakech (or Fes / Agadir). Riads inside the medina are met at the nearest car access point; we tell you where.
What time does the tour start and end?
Pick-up between 7:30 and 8:00. Return between 19:00 and 20:00 on the last day. Do not book a flight that evening.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, from about 5 on private tours (child seats free on request). Zagora is easier for young children; a 4-day Merzouga tour gives time to rest.
I get carsick. Should I worry?
The Tichka pass has many bends. Sit in front, take medication before the pass, and tell the driver; he will stop whenever you need.
Are the roads safe?
Yes. Main roads are paved and our drivers know them well. We do not drive at night in the mountains.
Practical
What should I pack?
A warm layer, a scarf, sunglasses, sunscreen, walking shoes for the gorge, a small bag for the camp, cash for lunches and tips, a power bank. Full list on each tour page.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. We are not an insurer and we ask every traveller to be covered for cancellation, medical care and repatriation.
Do I need a visa for Morocco?
Citizens of the EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia and many other countries do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. Check with your embassy; rules change.
How much should I tip?
Tips are appreciated, never required. A common guide: 100 to 200 MAD per day for the driver-guide from the group, and 20 to 50 MAD for camp staff.
Is there an ATM on the way?
Ouarzazate, Boumalne Dades, Tinghir and Erfoud have ATMs. There is none after Erfoud, and none at the camps.
Can I travel during Ramadan?
Yes. Lunch stops are still possible in tourist areas, with fewer choices. Camps and riads run normally. Evenings are lively.
