Agadir

Agadir is where many visitors to Morocco stay for a week of beach, and where the question "can we see the desert from here?" gets asked every day. The answer is yes, and without going to Marrakech first. Our Agadir tours pick you up at your hotel (free within 8 km of the centre; otherwise a meeting point) and take the southern road: Taroudant, the saffron valley of Taliouine, the Anti-Atlas, Ouarzazate — then the gorges and the dunes of Merzouga, or the Draa Valley and Erg Chigaga by 4x4. Three days brings you back to Agadir; the one-way tours drop you in Marrakech or Fes so you can continue from there. The city itself, rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake, is modern and easy: the beach, the marina, the kasbah hill for the view, and the fishing port for lunch.

What to expect

Before you go

Shared tours leave at 07:00 from your hotel if it is within 8 km of the centre point , otherwise from the meeting point [placeholder]. Private tours at 07:30, 08:00 or 09:00 from any address in Agadir, Taghazout or the surrounding resorts 8 km.

Agadir to the Dades Valley is 8–9 hours with stops; to Ouarzazate about 5–6. The road is good and the scenery changes every hour, but it is a day in the car.

Day three from Merzouga to Agadir is about 10 hours via Ouarzazate and Taliouine; you arrive around 19:00–20:00. The one-way tours avoid it.

Before you go

Can I see the Sahara from Agadir in two days?

No. The nearest big dunes (Merzouga) are two days away; Chigaga three. Two days from Agadir reaches Taroudant and Ouarzazate, not the desert. Three days minimum.

Do you pick up from Taghazout and Tamraght?

Private tours, yes. Shared tours pick up within 8 km of the Agadir centre point; further out, meet us at the meeting point [placeholder] or ask for a private pick-up.

Which is better from Agadir: Merzouga or Chigaga?

Merzouga for the tall dunes and the option of a shared tour; Chigaga for empty dunes by 4x4 on a private tour. Both are three days.

Can we go one way and fly home from Marrakech?

Yes — the Agadir → Merzouga → Marrakech tour is designed for that.

Is the Agadir route more or less scenic than from Marrakech?

Different. No Tichka pass, but Taroudant, saffron country and the Anti-Atlas. Fewer coaches.
