The desert tours from Agadir do not go through Marrakech. They go east along the Souss valley to Taroudant — a market town inside almost intact 16th-century walls, a smaller and calmer Marrakech — then climb through argan and almond country to Taliouine, the saffron capital of Morocco, and over the Anti-Atlas to Ouarzazate, where the road joins the Marrakech routes. On the 3-day Agadir tours this is day one, ending in Ouarzazate or the Dades Valley; the Erg Chigaga tours turn south at Ouarzazate towards Zagora. Coming back, the same road brings you to the coast on the last afternoon. It is less famous than the Tichka side and, for most of the year, emptier: long views, few coaches, and a saffron cooperative where the harvest is worth the stop in late autumn.

Pick-up in Agadir at 07:00 (shared) or your chosen time (private). Taroudant for a walk and coffee (1 h), Taliouine saffron stop and lunch, the Anti-Atlas, Ouarzazate or Aït Ben Haddou by late afternoon, night in the Dades Valley or Ouarzazate depending on the tour. About 7–8 hours of driving with stops.
A market town, not a tourist town. The Sunday souk, tanneries, the walls. Some private tours sleep here instead of Agadir on the first night, or on the way back.
The saffron cooperative sells the real thing at fair prices; the museum explains the picking and drying. Outside harvest it is a fifteen-minute stop.
